Tour Day 1: Marrakech–Imlil 1740m-Toubkal Refuge 3207m

Sahara Unlimited organises Combined Atlas and Sahara Tour from Marrakech , available every day. After a transfer to village of Imlil, you begin your trek heading along the Mizane valley, we cross the village of Armed then you join the shrine of Sidi Chamharouch. After lunch break we continue following mule tracks going up into to Toubkal refuge 3207m for overnight and get ready for the following day. Approx 6 hours walk. Tour Day 2 : Toubkal refuge 3207m–Toubkal peak 4167m –Imlil 1740m

Today early in the morning, you make your attempt on the summit of Jebel Toukbal, the highest peak in Northern Africa. Our route takes us up the south cirque, crossing the stream above the refuge. The walking is relatively straightforward, but the scree and the altitude will make the trek quite difficult in parts. When you reach the summit you will see that the vistas across the surrounding landscape are quite breathtaking.

Then we will retrace our steps when we return down the mountain and head back  the Toubkal Refuge where you will have lunch and walk down to Imlil for overnight in riad with dinner.

Tour Day 3 : Marrakech - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Dades Gorges

We will start our adventure by picking you up from the main pick up point, hitting the road! Watch as we climb through the dramatic Tizi n’Tichka pass which reaches an altitude of 2260 m. On route to Ouarzazate, “The Hollywood of Africa”, we will drive through the High Atlas Mountains passing by Berber villages and beautiful landscapes until we reach head to Ait Ben Haddou. It’s an infamous kasbah and the backdrop for many Hollywood hits; Films such as Gladiator, The Mummy and Alexander were filmed in this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Carry on the tour to Ouarzazate and Taourirt Kasbah a “magnificent structure and a historical monument giving tribute to the Glaoui”.

We will drive through the “Road of the Thousand Kasbahs”- the fascinating “sand castles”. Stop at Kalaat Mgouna, “Rose’s Kastel” known for roses and its annual festival during the roses harvest in May, and then continue to our hotel in the heart of the Dades Gorge. Dinner and night in the Hotel.

Tour Day 4 : Dades Gorges - Todra Gorgres - Erfoud - Merzouga

After breakfast in the hotel, we leave the Dades Gorges driving towards Tinhir and Todra Gorges. The alluring beauty of the lush palm grove along the valley are known for breathtaking views. Driving the windy, and thin road will get our full attention as we get into the Gorges which will allow you to get a full feel of the unbelievable glory of the massive canyon walls reaching some 300 meters.

We will carry on to Erfoud where we will come across with a fossil craft workshop, then we reach Merzouga. We will then embark on our camel ride for an hour through the stunning dunes. The clean air and the beautiful sunset will take you’re your breath away and provide an unforgettable moments. Enjoy a traditional dinner and overnight in a comfortable bivouac.

Tour Day 5 : Merzouga - Agdz - Ouarzazate - Marrakech

Wake up early , just prior to sunrise, we have a 60 minutes camel ride at sunrise to explore the area further and we head back to Merzouga on our Camels. When we reach Merzouga, have breakfast & have the opportunity to shower and then we begin our journey  through the stony desert and over the Atlas mountains, with plenty of stops for photos, exploring and lunch as we return to Marrakech.
